Emma?!?! Crawling?!?!?!

I was convinced that Emma would NEVER crawl. She has absolutely hated her tummy since we first introduced her to tummy time. Most parents would say "that's normal". But when Emma learned to roll-over, she immediately rolled right off her tummy every time. I was starting to get nervous when she would rather walk around the house with us holding on to her fingers than play with toys and learn to crawl. We finally gave in to her requests and got her a walker. Within days she was running around the house and loving it. Yesterday (Sunday) we were explaining to everyone at church how she will never crawl (because everyone wants to know why we are walking our 7-month-old around the church). Then, while we were watching the Superbowl ( SO sad... but SUCH a GOOD game!) at my parents house, my dad was adamant about getting Emma to crawl. She would go about 2 steps before falling and whining and crying. She did that about twice, and then the third time she just crawled backwards and gave up.

This morning while I was getting dressed, I pulled Emma out of her walker and put her on the floor next to me. She tried to reach for something, ended up on her tummy, and started whining and pushing herself backward. Typical. Hours later, I changed her diaper, sat her up, and went to throw the diaper away. Again I heard whining, but when I returned to her, she was on all fours and moving towards me. WHAT? Once Ammon got home from school, I started showing him how she can now crawl. Again, she just spontaneously started crawling. Minutes later, I took this clip I put below. How is it that a baby can wake up one morning and start doing something that she wasn't even close to doing the day before? No wonder we are supposed to be like little children... a little determination will get us so far in life!

We're so proud of you little Emmas! This video goes out to you Grandpa Brown... the only one who didn't give up on her! Next time, it's double or nothing! Who else could have called that 100 yard dash?
