As most of you know, 2-year-olds are stubborn. They know exactly what they want, and most of the time it happens to be the opposite of what we want. This describes Emma perfectly!
Example:
Every morning for the last few months we have taken a bath together (weird? maybe, but that's not the point I'm trying to make so keep reading). After every bath Emma runs around naked, or goes into her closet and slips on her Ariel "biders" (big-girl underwear). She sits in these for about 4-5 hours. The entire time I try every bribe I can think of to go potty in the toilet (she did it a few months ago, so I know she can). Every time I try to bribe, she ignores me, or runs into her room and puts on a Mickey "bider" (her real diaper). This morning was the exception. After the bath, she sat on the couch and was watching Mickey while I was getting dressed. Suddenly I hear a scream. I run in and she tells me that she has to potty. I put her on her potty. She gets right off. I move the potty to the family room and put her on the potty again. This time she stays and I sit next to her (not getting my hopes up). After 30 seconds, she exclaims that she's done it and the potty starts singing (literally and figuratively. it's one of those annoying talking pottys). I doubt her, obviously. She stands up and shows me. Sure enough, she actually went! After many cheers and kisses, she immediately exclaims, "I go to store and get kart and get toy. And I get gum" (Dang, she remembered my last two bribes!). Still overjoyed, we threw on a Mickey "bider" and we took off to the dollar store. I got her a few gifts that she can earn by putting stickers on her Potty Chart each time she goes. She's beyond excited about the chart (okay she gets that from me), and even more excited about the toys (she gets that from Ammon).
So far so good...she's been telling me and she's been going! Needless to say, I'm sure this potty-training attempt won't last, but it's fun to see her progress and become such an adorable big girl!
The question I still cannot answer is: Why today? Why does she suddenly feel like going today? Is it because I didn't think she would and she had to prove me wrong? Is it because she finally realizes that sitting in a wet diaper is disgusting? Is it because she finally wants the toy and gum that I promised her weeks ago? Is it because she's completely stubborn? If so...she doesn't get it from me....
Corecake (Strawberry Shortcake) and Baby have to wear Ariel "biders" too. Apparently now that Emma is a big girl, they too need to grow up a bit! :)

Way to set some standards Emma! Strawberry and Baby definitely need to grow up and get out of those sissy diapers.
Seriously, way to go on the potty training!
well hopefully this latest attempt works! haha, when i read that she screamed, i was afraid you were going to say that she'd gone potty on the couch or something! i'm so glad i was wrong!
